It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Dr. Jane Goodall. With her tireless work, the British behavioral scientist and environmentalist inspired generations to protect animals and nature. Her message was always clear: only with respect, compassion and consistent action can humans live in harmony with nature.

During my decades-long career in the international hotel industry, I was part of the management of the Davos Congress Center and the main contact person for the World Economic Forum (WEF). There I was able to witness Dr. Jane Goodall give an impressive speech. She was a powerful reminder that hope, compassion and responsibility are inextricably linked. This experience moved me deeply and left a lasting impression on me.
