Position paper: Responsibility, cleanliness and neighborhood in Glattpark
At Züripets®, animal welfare, respectful treatment of our environment and a well-kept neighborhood are at the heart of everything we do. Every day we look after dogs belonging to professionals, families and international guests from all over the Zurich area - with the utmost care, professionalism and responsibility towards people, animals and the environment.
Our attitude is clear: cleanliness and consideration are part of our corporate culture.
All employees are regularly trained to consistently implement the Züripets® standards on cleanliness, safety and respectful behavior in public spaces.
1. consideration and respect in public spaces
Our employees are trained specialists who carry out all walks in accordance with clear internal guidelines.
These include
the complete elimination of all legacies,
Avoiding signposted private property, green areas with usage restrictions or sensitive zones,
as well as maintaining alternating, safe walking routes to reduce environmental pollution and provide the dogs with balanced exercise.
We also use an officially designated dog zone of over 2,000 m² in Opfikerpark, which offers optimal conditions for controlled play, training and grooming.
2. active contribution to cleanliness in the neighborhood
Züripets® goes above and beyond its legal obligations:
We not only remove the dog excrement of our own animals, but also any left behind by other dog owners in order to promote a clean, well-kept appearance of Glattpark.
We have also installed three high-quality dog waste disposal stations in the neighborhood, which are available to all walkers free of charge.
This measure serves the entire community - to promote cleanliness, hygiene and quality of life in Glattpark.
Emptying and disposal is carried out by our team at their own expense.
This alone enables us to remove an average of around 30 kilograms of dog waste per week that would otherwise remain in public spaces.
Properties or administrations that would like to actively contribute to cleanliness in the neighborhood can order dog waste disposal stations directly from Züripets® on request.
These are delivered, maintained and regularly emptied by us - for a fair fee.
In this way, other residents' associations can also visibly take responsibility and contribute to improving the overall picture.
3. responsibility and transparency
We understand the importance of a well-kept environment - for residents, visitors and tradespeople alike.
Should any irregularities occur, please contact us directly so that we can respond immediately and clarify any misunderstandings.
We naturally respect all signposted no-go zones and areas with usage restrictions.
Our employees are expressly instructed to consistently observe these instructions and to choose alternative routes.
It is important for us to note that the increasing density of dogs in Glattpark - currently the highest in the entire canton of Zurich (Bülach district) - is an issue for society as a whole.
estimates that there is one dog for every three inhabitants and the trend is rising. This inevitably leads to greater use of public green spaces - a challenge that we want to tackle responsibly together.
4. cooperation & dialog
Züripets® stands for cooperation, transparency and community spirit.
We cordially invite neighbors, administrations and interested parties to actively participate in the exchange within the framework of the Glattpark interest group (IGG).
We are happy to contribute our know-how, our infrastructure and our experience to the discussion - for example as part of joint cleanliness or awareness-raising campaigns. Because only together can we achieve the goal of further developing Glattpark as a clean, liveable and animal-friendly neighborhood.

6. sustainability & awareness
Sustainability is not a trend for Züripets®, but part of our self-image.
We consistently take care to conserve resources, reduce waste and use environmentally friendly materials - from biodegradable poop bags and low-clean floor coverings to energy-efficient lighting in our premises.
Our waste disposal stations are made from recyclable materials and all cleaning steps are carried out using ecologically certified products. We also rely on short transportation routes, regional suppliers and sustainable partnerships that share our values.
For us, sustainability also means social responsibility - fair working conditions, training opportunities and respectful treatment of people, animals and nature.
This is how we understand modern Swiss premium quality: responsible, future-oriented and with a genuine awareness of our environment.
7. social and political commitment
Züripets® sees itself as an active part of the Glattpark community and is also involved at a political and social level in order to constructively represent the interests of pet owners, residents and local businesses.
We participate in municipal discussions, working groups and hearings on topics such as urban development, animal welfare, environmental awareness and neighborhood design. We contribute our practical experience and advocate balanced solutions between animal husbandry, neighborhoods and sustainable urban planning.
Our aim is to take responsibility not only in our own business, but also in public discourse - for a respectful, modern and animal-friendly living space in Zurich-Glattpark.
8. urban development & structural framework conditions
Glattpark is a young, dynamically growing neighborhood - but the building and planning structure is based on a development concept that was created over 20 years ago. At that time, dog ownership was much less common in urban areas. Accordingly, the issue of pet ownership, exercise and free-range areas was only marginally considered in the planning at the time.
Today, there are more dogs living in Glattpark than ever before - with a simultaneous lack of freely accessible, species-appropriate areas.
A large proportion of the paths and green areas are privately owned and can therefore only be used by dogs to a limited extent.
This structural situation inevitably leads to tensions between dog owners, residents and administrators - a structural issue that can only be resolved together.
Züripets® is actively committed to updated, pet-friendly neighborhood planning that meets the needs of a modern urban society - with more designated dog zones, clear rules and respectful coexistence.
The first tangible success of this commitment is the dog meadow in Glattparkwhich was created on the initiative and with the support of Züripets® and the Glattparkdogs association. Thanks to the good cooperation with the City of Opfikon, municipal policeand the responsible administration, it was possible to realize a project that many thought impossible - a safe, fenced-in and responsibly managed area that is open to all dog owners in the district.
This dog meadow shows that cooperation, dialog and perseverance can bring about real change - and that shared responsibility leads to a higher quality of life for people and animals.
9. consideration and noise emissions
For Züripets®, consideration also means reducing noise emissions to a minimum.
Our facilities are built to modern standards and have soundproofed interiors, permanently closed doors and noise-reducing materials to ensure a quiet environment for people and animals.
In the outdoor area, we pay attention to time-limited and structured walking times in order to disturb the surroundings as little as possible.
Our employees are trained to pay attention to the volume and behavior of the dogs and to intervene at an early stage to ensure that neither neighbors nor other residents are disturbed.
We understand the importance of peace and quiet and recreational quality in urban areas and actively help to ensure that animal welfare and neighborhood peace and quiet are in harmony.
