The Züripets® Position Paper
At Züripets®, the well-being of animals, treating our environment with respect, and maintaining a well-kept neighborhood are at the heart of everything we do. Every day, we care for the dogs of working professionals, families, and international guests from throughout the Zurich area—with the utmost care, professionalism, and responsibility toward people, animals, and the environment.
But responsibility doesn’t end at the door of the dog boarding facility—it begins where community takes shape.
That’s why Züripets® has published its official position paper, “Responsibility, Cleanliness, and Neighborhood Relations in Glattpark.” It describes how pet care, sustainability, consideration for others, and city life can coexist in harmony.
Consideration and Respect in Public Spaces
Our staff members are trained professionals and follow clear internal guidelines on every walk:
All traces will be completely removed
Private properties marked as such, green spaces with restricted use, or sensitive zones are avoided
Varied, safe walking routes provide exercise, variety, and minimal environmental impact
We also use an officially designated dog zone of over 2,000 m² in Opfikerpark, which offers optimal conditions for controlled play, training and grooming.
Actively Contributing to a Clean Neighborhood
Züripets® goes far beyond legal requirements. We not only clean up after our own dogs, but also regularly remove waste left by other dog owners—to keep our neighborhood clean and well-maintained.
To improve the situation in the long term, Züripets® has installed three high-quality dog waste disposal stations in Glattpark. These are available free of charge to all walkers. Users are responsible for the cost of emptying the bins—about 30 kilograms of dog waste per week are disposed of properly in this way.
Property owners, management companies, or residents' associations that wish to take action on their own can obtain these waste collection stations through Züripets® and have them maintained and emptied. In this way , other stakeholders can also make a visible contribution to keeping the neighborhood clean.
Accountability and Transparency
Züripets® stands for clear rules, communication, and immediate action. We ask residents to contact us directly if they notice any irregularities—we take every report seriously and investigate it promptly.
Our staff prioritize tranquility, structure, and consideration. We also take noise levels seriously: Our facilities are soundproofed, dogs have scheduled exercise times, and we actively ensure that neighbors and the surrounding area are not disturbed.
Sustainability & Awareness
For Züripets®, sustainability isn’t just a trend—it’s part of our everyday life. We rely on biodegradable materials, eco-friendly cleaning products, energy-efficient lighting, and regional suppliers. Our waste disposal stations are made of recyclable components, and we promote environmentally conscious behavior at every level—from walking the dogs to facility management.

Social and Political Engagement
Züripets® isn’t just part of Glattpark—we play an active role in shaping it. We participate in local discussions, working groups, and public hearings on topics such as urban development, animal welfare, and neighborhood planning. Our goal: a respectful, modern, and animal-friendly coexistence that has an impact beyond our own operations.
Urban Development & Building Regulations
Glattpark is growing—but the original urban planning dates back to a time when dog ownership was hardly taken into account. Many paths and green spaces are privately owned and therefore virtually inaccessible to dogs. This leads to conflicts that we can only resolve by working together with the city, the administration, and local residents.
One of the first major successes of this collaboration is the dog park in Glattpark. It was created on the initiative of and with support from Züripets® and the Glattparkdogs association—in close cooperation with the city of Opfikon and the municipal administration. This made possible something that many thought was impossible: a safe, fenced-in, and responsibly managed area open to all dog owners in the neighborhood.
This dog park is both a symbol and proof that dialogue, persistence, and teamwork can bring about real change—leading to a better quality of life and greater understanding between humans and animals.
